In September 2014 Iowa City Community school District reached out to PROACT Search to assist them in recruiting an experienced leader in the fields of Equity and Human Relations. ICCSD has hopes of expanding the previous equity position to include staffing responsibilities as well, and thus required aid from a search firm with a vast knowledge of the industry and a proven track record of success placing a variety of positions.
PROACT Search recruited 33 candidates with experience in diversity leadership from across the Midwest and the country. After a rigorous screening process, 14 candidates were selected for district presentation. After several rounds of screening, ICCSD hired Kingsley Botchway, deputy auditor of elections in Johnson County, IA. Mr. Botchway’s wealth of experience as a civil servant and personnel manager will lend a rich perspective to ICCSD as he joins the Superintendent’s cabinet to provide advice on the critical issue of equity in public education.
